STORY: Ponte di Rialto is one of only three and certainly the oldest of bridges spanning the Grand Canal. The Rialto Bridge is the third incarnation at this spot; the first a pontoon, the second a wood bridge that had partially burned before the stone replaced it in 1591 after four hundred years of history.
