STORY: Visiting Monteriggioni was a wonderful surprise that overcame us all of a sudden on the road to Siena from Firenze. The castle-like medieval walled commune offered peaceful views of vineyards and fields and farms. Visitors can walk the walls around the complex most days. We may have been the only visitors that morning.
