STORY: This Ranger to the right demonstrates the horrifying instantaneous destructive power a flash flood can unleash in a matter of a few seconds to a few minutes. This truck must have been swiftly washed off the road with great force and tumbled and partially buried while being pummeled with huge boulders. In my experience, after successfully navigating a couple of small washes, and while trying the next larger wash, just as I was breaching the wash, the force and volume of water, rocks, and debris intensified in a split second, pushing my car off the road and into a gully the flood had created alongside the road. In just a few seconds, there were enough rocks under my rear wheels to regain traction and gun it back up onto the road. The water level that sealed the fate of this Ranger could have been most of the way up the door with some boulders as big as the tires.
